निसान ने भारत में अपने ऑपरेशंस 2005 में शुरू किए थे इसके बाद कंपनी ने ग्लोबल अलायंस पार्टनर रेनो के साथ मिलकर चेन्नई के पास अपना मैन्युफैक्चरिंग प्लांट और आर एंड डी सेंटर स्थापित किया। भारत में निसान का टू-ब्रांड पोर्टफोलियो है, जिसमें एक निसान और दूसरा डैटसन। डैटसन की कारें बजट फ्रेंडली होती हैं और ये उन लोगों को अपनी ओर खींचती है जो कीमत को ज्यादा तव्वजों देते हैं। पिछले कुछ वर्षों में निसान के प्रोडक्ट्स की मांग सेगमेंट की दूसरी कारों के मुकाबले इतनी ज्यादा नहीं रही है। निसान के पूरे देशभर में 309 शोरूम हैं, जिसमें से 173 सर्विस सेंटर की तरह काम करते हैं। यह ब्रांड अपने सभी मॉडल्स के साथ निसान कनेक्ट फीचर उपलब्ध कराता है जिससे फ़ैक्ट्री फिटेड टेलीमैटिक्स कंट्रोल यूनिट के जरिये कई तरह के फंक्शन्स को एक्सेस किया जा सके। यह फंक्शन कम्फर्ट और सेफ्टी के मामले में कार ओनरशिप एक्सपीरियंस को सुधारते हैं और ग्राहकों को अतिरिक्त कंट्रोल देते हैं।
