Carens With Poor Pickup

The first gear must always be engaged in order to start the automobile. It stopped on the Mumbai to Pune Expressway as I was driving and took 3/4 minutes to restart. The remainder of the trip was made in first gear with increased acceleration through the steep terrain. Even when driving in the city, second gear is worthless. Vehicle begins to sway. Dim lighting makes nighttime driving dangerous. Mileage is a different problem.
