Tata launched the Harrier SUV on January 23rd with a notion to give something unique to the buyers who want the masculinity of Jeep Compass and features moreover the affordability as of Hyundai Creta. There has been pretty much excitement about the launch of this SUV since it was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Now in just 10 days of its launch, it has registered 422 units and that's pretty remarkable given the level of competition in the segment. I was just going through the video review on YouTube and was amazed to see the overwhelmingly positive response in favor of the SUV and out of curiosity I checked out the sales figures of the last month. I really impressed the way it heads off its innings in the highly competitive auto space. So, what I liked the most about this car. Before starting my viewpoint on this car, I would like to say that the company introduced this car after a lot of research and thought process. This clearly reflects as the SUV ticks all the right boxes required by contemporary buyers. The latest Impact 2.0 design philosophy seems to be raising the charm outside. The headlamps are placed at an unconventional location while the LED DRLs are placed on the top, a unique approach of the carmaker. The 17-inch wheels are puny and Tata could have integrated 18-inch wheels from Land Rover from which it shares its platform. The organic black strip featuring tail lamps uplift the aura at the back. Inside too, Tata has left no stone unturned to equip this car with contemporary features. The quality, fit and finish of the interiors are top notches. You get to see a fine mix of leather, wood and silver making a treat for the eyes. As far as tech is concerned, you get large 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment powered by Android Auto, Apple CarPlay will be given later. The music system is given by JBL which is quite good in performance as what I have seen in the reviews. Other comfort features include cruise control, push engine start/stop button, reverse parking camera, however, you will miss sunroof in this car. But the area where this car really shines is the safety department as it gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability and traction control system. The engine is sourced from Fiat and surprisingly, it is the same unit working in rival Jeep Compass, however in more powerful form. But still, 139bhp is enough to potter in and around the city and cruising fearlessly on highways. With all these at the price range of Rs. 12-16 lakh, I think the Tata Harrier is a value for money vehicle. It gives you best of both the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta. In my opinion, it is one of the best mid-range SUV you can purchase in the market.
