    The three-cylinder motor needs some motivation to get a move on. You will need to give initial throttle inputs to get it going, but when you do so, the drive gets pretty relaxed. The clutch feels light and gear action is also pretty smooth. Being a three-cylinder motor the vibrations are noticeable but not bothersome. They do get a little intrusive if you push it hard at around 4,000rpm. Overall, as a city driver the Triber does the job decently. The few times I’ve taken it down the highway though, the motor has felt rather weedy. Anything above 80-90kmph felt like a bit of a struggle. If you put your foot down for a quick overtake, the gearbox is ridiculously slow to kick down too. And the moment you get the motor revving above 3,000rpm, the engine just starts screaming away. However, where the Triber really scores is its ride quality. The suspension setting is apt for our road conditions and can easily soak sharp bumps and potholes without breaking a sweat.     Currently, there is no official information available regarding the launch of turbo engine. Moreover, you may go for the AMT version. Clearly, the Triber AMT has its shortcomings. But inside the city, they are very well camouflaged by the smoothness of the shifts, practicality of the cabin and the ride quality over bad roads. Plus, you also get a manual mode to take matters in for your own hand if you need quick acceleration. If you spend 90 percent of you kilometres driving inside the city, the Triber AMT, at a premium of Rs 40,000, will make for a hassle-free and competent companion. But if you spend more than that 10 percent time on the highways, then the Triber AMT’s shortcomings like the slow shifts, stressed out engine and low efficiency will bother you more than its positives.
