The redi-GO comes with a driver-side airbag, ABS and EBD as standard, Despite that, it scored a mere 1-star rating for adult occupant protection and two stars for child occupant protection at the Global NCAP tests. The redi-GO’s body shell and footwell area were rated as ‘unstable.’ Even though the head and neck protection was rated as ‘good,’ the chest protection of the driver was termed as ‘poor.’ This can cause life-threatening injuries to the driver and hence the adult protection rating is limited to just one star. On the other hand, if we tak about Tata Tiago, it is offered with standard safety features such as dual front airbags, front seatbelts with pretensioners, and ABS with EBD. It scored 12.52 out of 17 points for adult occupants while it achieved 34.15 out of 49 points for child occupants. Though Tiago get 4-Star safety ratings, as per the report, the structure and footwell area of both the vehicles were rated as unstable. The protection for the head and neck of the adult occupants was rated as good. However, the chest protection for the passenger was termed as adequate while that for the driver, it was labelled as marginal. Sadly, the protection to the femur and knees was labelled as marginal for it.Global NCAP crash tests are conducted at 64kmph and in a controlled environment. However, we should point out that when it comes to the real world, not even the highest crash test rating can guarantee the safety of occupants.
