Ford ecosport was launched in India in the year 2013 and it was a huge success for the company and there were long waiting periods for many months. The car had its unique appeal to Indian buyers for following reasons: Design- unique futuristic design which is separate from bland designs used for years by other companies. It has been designed in Europe and has been marketed world over with huge success. Engine Options- TDCI is a very good engine in terms of driveability, mileage, pickup and reliability. The same engine also does duties in new gen fiesta, figo and aspire. It is a very refined engine and complies with BS-IV emission standards. Build quality- solid build quality, doors close with a heavy thud. Kerb weight is more than equal sized or bigger cars such as Maruti Suzuki Brezza, S-Cross, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. While being in the car, one gets the feeling of being secure. Quality of plastics, fabrics, switches and glasses is fairly good. The car gives a feel that it will last long. SUVish stance- High ground clearance and higher seating position give add to the driver confidence on the road. It easily clears the deep potholes and high speed breakers without scraping the bottom. Driving Dynamics- despite of high ground clearance of 200 mm, the car feels planted on highways and while taking turns at high speeds. Indian highways are not very safe for doing triple digit speeds regularly, however, the car is easily capable of cruising at those speeds all day long. NVH levels- Insulation from outside noise and engine vibrations is outstanding. Because of this, It is difficult to discern this car from petrol cars while on the move. Road noise is minimal and is only felt when car goes beyond 85-90 kph. Wheel wells are also covered which adds to the insulation. The A pillars, however, are very thick and they add to the wind noise at higher speeds. This is not such a big problem in 99% of our driving situations. Audio System and Sync- it is equipped with all the bells and whistles such as CD player, aux, usb, bluetooth etc. Microsoft sync system is very useful in registering voice commands and keeping us hands free. Once can change tracks, alter volume levels, search songs and do many more things with this. Safety features- this model comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Emergency assist feature. The car is very well built and has earned 4 star rating in latin NCAP crash test. The frame is very strong as it is built with high strength boron steel. Additional Features- rear parking sensors, rear wiper with defogger, automatic climate control, internally adjustable side view mirrors, smart key entry system, push button start, electronic boot release, all alloy wheels, front fog lamps, speed sensing door locks, 345 ltr boot space. Missing Features- Proper Navigation system with 8 inch display, projector headlamps, auto folding side mirrors, TPMS, glovebox light, passenger hand rest, heads up display, cooled seats for harsh Indian summers.
