Chevrolet Sail: A 2000 km drive review - Real Practical Sedan

Review after driving 2000 Kms and owning the car for a month (diesel version). Bought the car in Banglaore on July 25th 2014. First of all I really took a risk of choosing this car from a brand which is not clicking in India. There were crank shaft issue intially which is a bid letdown for the sales of the car. But trust me, I clarified the issue�through well known Chevy dealers (my close friend) and after clarifying the doubts I bought this car. Till now I haven't faced any issues. But practically speaking you can't really take out the concept of call back from any manuafacturer.  It is veiwed in India as a sentiment than a manufacturing issue. Look and Style: Really a head turner. You don't see this car much on the road. Definitly beats all the other competition. Better than Swift, Amaze, Etios, etc. Comfort - I drove Swift Dzire, Ford Classic and Sail during the test drive. In order of comfort I would rate Ford Classic as best, Sail and then Dzire. Equivalent to Ford, Sail absorbs all the pot holes. Most of my driving is on highway (80% highway and 20% city), after driving the vehicle for 6 or 7 hours, I don't feel tired nor I had a back pain. Even after reaching the destination I always feel like I wanted to drive more. Pickup: The car has a turbo which kicks in after you reach 2000RPM, unlike Swift you don't get the power at one shot. You get the power through out the acceleration. There are some cases you feel the engine is not pulling and you may have to downshift. But that was ok with me as I was driving an Alto earlier. Mileage: After 2000 kms, I am getting 20kmpl on highway without AC and 18 with AC. In city, I am getting 15 Km (Partial AC).  My city conditions 1. Driving in Bangalore 2. One way to my office is 1.15 mins for 17 kms 3. Heavy to very heavy traffic all the time, you can shift to Max 4th gear for about 3kms, thats it Have said the same to Service center, they said it will improve after the 1st free service, the very usual gyan. Anyway hoping it will get better, but I am not too concerned as it's a decent mileage. Best Features: One area where Sail fails to impress, you don't get steering mounted control, climate control, etc. What you get in the top end version are AC, Music system with Bluetooth connectivity, Power windows, Auto door locks, Remote key entry then the usual stuffs. But what I like is the position of the power windows, which is located next to the gear rod, awkward initially but once you get used to it, you will like it since even the go passenger can control it. Needs to improve: Interior plastic, it is a big let down. Needs to improve that besides some additional features need to be fill in which competitors provide. Overall Experience I felt the car is performing OK for my expectation (thats where the problem is for most of us). You don't get features, but this is really a practical 3 box type sedan. I really enjoyed my drive in this car. For those who are not bothered about the look, then you should look for other brands.
