A perfect Indian SUV- Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki launched its all new offering- the Vitara Brezza, in the compact SUV segment this year in March. If I had a rupee for every person that has asked me about the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the last few years, I would probably have enough money to buy one. Not only is this the most talked about car in the last few months, Maruti’s new SUV is possibly one of the most talked about and most anticipated cars in the last few years. Though Maruti Suzuki was late to SUV party in India. But as it goes 'Slow and Steady Wins the Race'. And it looks like Maruti Suzuki is on the winning run. With best in class features plus the reliability of Maruti Suzuki at a price range of Rs. 6.99 to 9.68 lakh in Delhi (ex-showroom). When Compared to the Hyundai Creta where its price starts at Rs 9.2 Lakh. Coming to it's under the hood part i.e engine. As the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder unit that makes 90PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque. This, of course, is the same engine that we are used to in the likes of the Ciaz and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox that has especially been tuned for the Brezza. The first thing you feel when you get behind the wheel of the Brezza is the uncanny sense of familiarity. It drives pretty much identical to the likes of the Swift and the Baleno. Power delivery isn’t as jerky as it once was and although there is a noticeable turbo lag when you are at lower speeds and higher gears, drop it down a cog or two and the Brezza really shows a level of acceptable performance.On the whole, though, the Vitara Brezza with the diesel engine certainly does not disappoint even though it does not really showcase any earth-shattering performances. There is no denying the fact that the Vitara Brezza is a sure shot winner for Maruti Suzuki with a real possibility of it becoming its bread and butter product in the next few years. It has exciting and yet understated looks, a good interior that comes packed with gadgets and a good mechanical package. Negatives, of course, include the plastic quality which really needs to be improved and the fact that the NVH levels are just a tad bit too high for our liking. Although we were a bit sceptical about the Vitara Brezza, the car certainly has not disappointed in any form or measure and is certainly something we would strongly advise our readers to buy if you are looking for a new car around the Rs 10 lakh range. On the whole, though Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza can become the most affordable buy for an ideal middle-class Indian buyer who had a dream of buying an SUV. All said and done, you have to wonder, does that mid-size sedan or premium hatchback really make any sense anymore?
